I thought it was an excellent movie. Sue me lmao
You know whenever I read a review from someone who dissects and over analyzes the entire movie from start to finish sucking the life and any enjoyment from it. It's a must see for me. That just shows me that said reviewer really has no idea if it was good or not. They spent the entire time concentrating and searching for WHAT THEY THOUGHT WERE FLAWS. Whilst any entertainment went right over their heads.
Look everyone has their preference. Me I LIKE MOVIES. See it or not. Dont let what someone you may have nothing in common with dictate whether you see a movie or not. I loved it. I also a big Coen Brothers fan so ironic dark comedies I love. You'll either like it or you won't. Dont rob yourself from a potential gift. Danny McBride is fantastic
A surprisingly good dark comedy!
Novice director Jonathan Watson makes his 2nd directorial debut and his first full length feature film, and knocks it out of the ballpark!
This is a well written, cast and produced dark comedy with few LOL moments, but you will have a constant grin throughout, especially from the perfectly cast Danny McBride who's performance was outstanding for his character.
He, as well as the great directing along with the perfect cinematography make this film stand out and very entertaining.
The entire premise of the set location (pretty much abandoned gated communities) make this a different type of cat-and-mouse comedy thriller that is enjoyable start to finish. The pacing is great and the length is perfect.
An excellent Sunday hangover popcorn flick! A well deserved 8/10 from me

If I had a dime for every film that could have been better.
I read the reviews here 12 at the time of writing, and decided to watch this film anyway. I also realised that even though the scores given varied pretty widely, for the most part they were all still pretty accurate about this movie.
It's a simple story about the escalation of events that goes a bit haywire, and its a good story but for some lazy writing and stupid plot decisions that will annoy, bore, ultimately lend this film to ratings that will top out about average.
Rosemary DeWitt and Danny McBride do a fantastic job with their lead roles and actually it's a solid cast which does a great job overall. The direction is great and really has the balance of comedic value and thriller perfectly matched to the tone of the plot line. It's a good script too, given the questionable plot. The dialogue is good and some one has put some great effort into getting this one right for the flavour this movie is trying to achieve.
Sadly the plot fails a lot of the good work that's been done in so many aspects of this movie, and as the movie progresses it ends up being a bit of a drain on your attention getting over some of the more questionable occurrences. The bag of stupid scenarios was once again close at hand to advance the story instead of using real creativity to come up with canny options to the story progressing.
Its not that a little absurdity in a comedy isn't acceptable, if done well it can add an extra dimension of humour to a movie, but film makers often seem to forget that movie going audiences in aren't stupid, and can spot the difference between a clever bit of bridge work and a rickety plank between scenes.
I certainly enjoyed much of it because it is largely entertaining but overall it still ends up being just about average, and in all honesty I just don't think its worth a watch.
